چکیده

A meta-analytic approach was used to determine factors associated with the severity of enteritis in distal intestine Atlantic salmon fed soybean meal (SBM)-based diets. Dataset from 26 fish studies were extracted and standardized for use meta-analysis. After standardization, data analyzed ordinal logistic regression model by comparing SBM treatment(s) each study neutral-reference treatment. The log-odds ratio proportional odds its standard error using random effects estimate effect size dietary on four semi-quantitative histological variables: reduction mucosal fold height; disappearance supranuclear vacuolization; inflammatory cell infiltration lamina propria, submucosa. Both univariate multivariate meta-regression identify significant association salmon. results showed that production phase, feed type, inclusion level, year water temperature are significantly Further meta-analysis sub datasets according revealed reared seawater more prone develop compared freshwater. absence positive relationship between level probably due difference source, batch, processing, anti-nutritional different combined Subgroup analysis based SBM-based diets has decreased over years. Additional diet at low increased enteritis, raised high temperature. Linear quadratic regressions conducted explore possible impact performance, specific growth rate thermal coefficient enteritis. However, this depends phase variables analysis. current concluded temperature, but not exposure time. Also, reduced • Fish Severity Increasing did increase performance

Atlantic salmon – Salmo salar

Distribution Th e species’ range encompasses Europe, North America, and Green land (1) (Fig.1). Non-anadromous forms occur in Europe in a few land-locked locations in Norway and Sweden, and throughout the Neva/Lake Ladoga system and Karelia regions of Russia. In North America non-anadromous forms occurred throughout most of the species’ historical range, as far west as Lake Ontario, and remain ...

Immunoglobulin Isotypes in Atlantic Salmon, Salmo Salar

There are three major immunoglobulin (Ig) isotypes in salmonid fish: IgM, IgD and IgT, defined by the heavy chains μ, δ and τ, respectively. As a result of whole genome duplication in the ancestor of the salmonid fish family, Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) possess two highly similar Ig heavy chain gene complexes (A and B), comprising two μ genes, two δ genes, three intact τ genes and five τ pseu...

Early response of gene expression in the distal intestine of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.) during the development of soybean meal induced enteritis.

Plant products in general and soybeans in particular can challenge the function and health of the intestinal tract. Salmonids develop an intestinal inflammation when fed diets containing soybean meal (SBM) and certain other legume ingredients. In the present study a 44K oligonucleotide salmonid microarray, qPCR and histology were used to investigate early response mechanisms in the distal intes...

Lysozyme transgenic Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar L.)

Disease outbreaks are a major constraint to salmon aquaculture worldwide. Therefore, there is considerable interest in ¢nding means to alleviate this problem by enhancing their innate immune system. Because lysozyme is an important component of this system, we generated a line of transgenic Atlantic salmon using a gene construct consisting of a rainbow trout lysozyme gene under the control of t...
